LOOPDIVER STUDY #1 + Mark Coniglio in Conversation
Serving as the initial study for Troika Ranch‘s most recent major work ‘loopdiver’, this work presents a dreamlike and maddening journey as a solo performer struggles within a relentless structure of looped movement. Moody and intense, this short work puts the frailties of the human body in conflict with an externally imposed machine rhythm.

About the company
Troika Ranch is the collaborative vision of artists Mark Coniglio and Dawn Stoppiello. Established in 1994, and maintaining a troika of home bases in Portland, Oregon, New York City and Berlin, Germany, Troika Ranch produces live performances, interactive installations, and digital films, all of which combine traditional aspects of these forms with advanced technologies. The artists’ mission in producing this wide range of art experiences is to create artwork that best reflects and engages contemporary society.

However, we’re excited to present the extended Troika Ranch show on these dates, which includes a performance of Loopdiver study #1, showcase of previous works by Troika Ranch and a conversation with Mark Coniglio, co-founder and Artistic Director of multi-award winning Troika Ranch company (USA). Mark will discuss the use of bespoke creative software Isadora that he has developed and that is widely used by many dance companies across the world. He will also provide an insight into the company’s creative methodology, which involves a hybrid of three artistic disciplines, dance/theatre/media (the Troika) in cooperative interaction (the Ranch).
